Ann Coulter: Idiot, Ignorant, or a Case of Arrested Development?

North Korean Dictator “Wept” At Missile Launch (And Wiped His Eyes on a Diamond Studded Silk Handkerchief)

If you haven’t seen this story yet, check this out:

SEOUL (AFP) — A triumphant North Korea on Tuesday broadcast footage of its controversial rocket launch as state press reported Kim Jong-Il wept tears of regret that the money it cost could not have been used to help his people.

I’m sure ol’ Kimmy was all broken up at the prospect of depriving his citizens of a potential quality of life increase. No doubt he was similarly distressed after building each of his 17 palaces.

Of course Limbaugh Can’t Own an NFL Team

Is anybody really surprised that Rush won’t be approved as a minority owner of the St. Louis Rams?

It has nothing to do with Rush’s conservative ideology.

It’s absurd to suggest, as Limbaugh has, that the league is run by “leftists” and “liberals.”

The NFL is run by one thing: Money.  The League offers a superior product and occupies a unique niche in the marketplace.  They’re making money hand over fist right now, and they’d be crazy to jeaprodize it.  Limbaugh would do that.  He spends 15 hours per week flirting with the line seperating ridiculous from downright offensive.

Why would the NFL want anything to do with him?

It’s not Rush’s conservatism that foiled his bid, it’s the way he talks about his conservatism.  That’s all there is to it.

Obama’s Communist Manifesto

In case you’re interested, here’s the text of President Obama’s insidious speech to the kiddies this morning.

Excerpt:

I’ve talked a lot about your government’s responsibility for setting high standards, supporting teachers and principals, and turning around schools that aren’t working where students aren’t getting the opportunities they deserve.

But at the end of the day, we can have the most dedicated teachers, the most supportive parents, and the best schools in the world and none of it will matter unless all of you fulfill your responsibilities. Unless you show up to those schools; pay attention to those teachers; listen to your parents, grandparents and other adults; and put in the hard work it takes to succeed.

And that’s what I want to focus on today: the responsibility each of you has for your education. I want to start with the responsibility you have to yourself.

Every single one of you has something you’re good at. Every single one of you has something to offer. And you have a responsibility to yourself to discover what that is. That’s the opportunity an education can provide.

Maybe you could be a good writer — maybe even good enough to write a book or articles in a newspaper — but you might not know it until you write a paper for your English class. Maybe you could be an innovator or an inventor — maybe even good enough to come up with the next iPhone or a new medicine or vaccine — but you might not know it until you do a project for your science class. Maybe you could be a mayor or a senator or a Supreme Court justice, but you might not know that until you join student government or the debate team.

And no matter what you want to do with your life — I guarantee that you’ll need an education to do it. You want to be a doctor, or a teacher, or a police officer? You want to be a nurse or an architect, a lawyer or a member of our military? You’re going to need a good education for every single one of those careers. You can’t drop out of school and just drop into a good job. You’ve got to work for it and train for it and learn for it.

And this isn’t just important for your own life and your own future. What you make of your education will decide nothing less than the future of this country. What you’re learning in school today will determine whether we as a nation can meet our greatest challenges in the future.

Karl Marx would be proud!

Open Thread: Libertarians Vs. Wal-Mart Haters

There was some good discussion about our “Seven Reasons Wal-Mart Sucks” in the comments section. It essentially turned into a small number of self-described libertarians taking on a smaller number of Wal-Mart haters.

Chinese Navy Strips, Displays WMDs For US Sailors

WTF?? Seriously, this story is bizarre. Apparently five Chinese vessels moved dangerously close to the US Navy ship “Impeccable” operating in international waters. Then this:

RNC Chairman Michael Steele Grovels at Limbaugh’s Feet

Late Monday, RNC Chairman Michael Steele apologized to Rush Limbaugh. The AP reports:

What Was That About the Fairness Doctrine, Hannity?

You fear-mongering asshole! For months you’ve shrieked indignantly about the return of the “Fairness Doctrine”– despite NO INDICATION that it had ANY chance of passing. Barack Obama did not want to re-institute it. Most Democrats in Congress had no interest in bringing it back.

Ann Coulter Crosses the Line For the 4,325,421th Time

Ann Coulter is a nasty, bitter, person. She regularly crosses the line that separates poor political commentary from bigotry and hatred.
