Some think so. We tend to believe that personal problems, however regrettable they are, don’t neccesarily mean that an elected leader needs to resign. However, in this case, Governor Sanford’s performance as CEO of the State seems to be suffering. You can’t just disappear for five days without informing people where you’re going. We don’t want to rush to judgement here, but as of right now Sanford doesn’t seem fit for office.

Come on now– is anybody surprised that Iran’s President Ahmadinejad apparently rigged the vote and won the election? The only thing that surprised us was how pathetic the numbers actually were– we would have expected Ahmadinejad to at least make the falsified numbers plausible. But no.
The number of Americans receiving claims for unemployment benefits dropped for the first time since January, adding to evidence the job market is starting to thaw.
The number of people collecting unemployment insurance plunged by 148,000 in the week to June 6, the most since November 2001, to 6.69 million, the Labor Department said today in Washington. Initial claims rose by 3,000 to 608,000 in the week ended June 13, in line with forecasts.
The average number of claims over the last four weeks fell to the lowest level in four months, an indication that the U.S. economy is stabilizing after the worst recession in half a century. Even so, companies are likely to be slow to hire new employees, sending unemployment rates higher, analysts said.
We’re obviously not out of the woods yet– but this is good news no matter how you slice it!

FOXNEWS anchor Shepard Smith on the hatred and rage he senses from certain right-wingers:
Smith has continued to be in the sane minority on the FOXNEWS network. The irony in his comments is that the “out there” email he read could be a verbatim quote from Sean Hannity. It’s also amusing seeing Limbaugh and his kind trying their best to blame this on the Democrats for “fostering hate”. Can’t we just accept that there are right-wing nuts out there, just as there are left-wing nuts? The fact that the Holocaust Museum shooter is an extreme right-winger does not reflect badly on sane conservatives.
President Barack Obama said on Monday accelerated stimulus spending would create or save 600,000 jobs over the next 100 days, pledging action to slow the growth of unemployment that has reached a 25-year high.
“We’ve got a long way to go, but I feel like we’ve made great progress,” Obama said at a White House meeting with Vice President Joe Biden and cabinet officials aimed at highlighting gains made since Congress passed the massive stimulus package in February.
With all due respect, Mr. President, wasn’t the whole point of rushing the stimulus package through Congress to allow immediate spending? We knew that the situation was grim and required urget reaction– why haven’t we been going full speed ever since?

The title of this post is only one word because there is no way to describe what you’re about to see. Gunther is a Swedish pop star, and along with the Sunshine Girls, is responsible for some outrageous comedy. Check this out, and keep in mind that this isn’t a joke (viewer discretion very much advised):
